Apple's new Video iPod now records in high quality stereo

The old iPods recorded audio at only 8KHz in mono, which was very poor, and not really good enough for podcasting, but the new Video iPods record at 44.1KHz and in stereo - excellent quality for podcasting. They save in uncompressed wave format, so you have to compress it to MP3 on the computer.

At AU$439.00 the Video iPod is a bit pricey, but the prices will come down, and since it's a device that many people will have anyway, this can only mean that more people (including students) will have the capacity to record their own podcasts.
