Apple steps on the little lemon!!
When I first saw this story on Engadget I though it must have been a spoof but sure enough it appears to be true that Apples lawyers have written to the makers of the open source podcasting client Ipodder Lemon that their name infringes Apples trademark Ipod.
Like hello, the term “Podcast” had become part of the general lexicon and the open source origins of podcasting has fuelled the sales of ipods measurably. If it were not for pioneering software developers like those behind Ipodder Apple would have never even considered adding podcasting support to iTunes in the first place. They owe their success in no small measure to early developers like ipodder.
This kind of petty litigation goes against everything podcasting stands for!!
Anyway looks like the authors of our lemon have taken it seriously and have rename the client “juice” and set up a new domain @ http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/index.php
